High School Homecoming Walls!!

Our 8th Grade students would like to proudly showcase their hard work hall decorating today!

Another thank you to Boss Snowplow in Iron Mountain for donating two more bins of steel to the GAC welding program. Also a big thanks to Reliable Repair for sending up one of his team with a forklift to unload the bins from the trailer. We are grateful for all the local support.

The Fab Lab students collaborated on a cribbage board project this week. They calculated the spacing for the hole layout on the board, used software to design the build the boards on the cnc router and laser engraved designs. Great job!

The first oil change of the year for the Autos class. They changed the oil and filter, checked fluids, inspected the tires and brakes for wear. Great job.

Thank you for your continued and on-going support to assist in keeping our schools open during these challenging times. Your understanding of our face covering requirement is critical in our local efforts to fend off the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to implement safety and cleaning practices and protocols for our students to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
Please continue the following school day student screening protocol:
Before leaving for school, please make sure of the following screening. The following symptoms may indicate a possible illness that could decrease your child’s ability to learn and put them at risk of spreading illness to others.
1. Symptoms (Check if “YES” to symptom present)

☐ Sore throat
☐ New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (for students with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
☐ Diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, or abdominal pain
☐ New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
If the answer is YES to any of the symptom questions please keep your child(ren) home from school. Use the attendance calling protocol to report the absence to our school district. Call 715-336-2575 to report the absence and indicate what symptoms your child has which prevents them from attending school.
2. Close Contact/Potential Exposure (Check if “Yes” as applicable)

☐ Had close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes) with a person under quarantine for possible exposure to COVID-19; OR
☐ Had a travel history outside of the immediate area
If the answer is YES to any symptoms question and YES to any close contact/potential exposure question, call the school as soon as possible to let them know the reason your child(ren) won’t be there today. Call your healthcare provider right away.
If the answer is YES to any of the symptom questions, but NO to any close contact/potential exposure questions, your student may return based on the guidance for their symptoms as follows:
Fever: at least 24 hours have passed with no fever, without the use of fever-reducing medications
Sore throat: improvement (if strep throat: do not return until at least 2 doses of antibiotic have been taken);

A big thank you to Boss Snowplow for donating steel to our welding class. The Advanced Welding class designed and built a rack to store all the donated pipe.

A big thank you to Tom and Jake Kessel from Armstrong Creek Electric. They donated their time/equipment, installed a new bank of receptacles and isolated the circuits in the fab lab. It's funny how having a good working electrical system feels like a luxury. Thanks again!

Goodman-Armstrong Creek families. If you are trying to find the back to school supply list please click the Explore tab and take a look at the new Parents section we created just for you. When opening the Explore tab on a computer there are 3 columns based on the audience. Column 1 is for all the students based on their grade level. Column 2 is for parents, teachers and community. Column 3 is all of our district information. Feel free to still use the tabs across the top but I hope this helps clear up any confusion on locating needed information.

Hello Goodman-Armstrong Creek students and families. Please check your mailbox as important 2020-2021 school year information will be arriving soon! We are looking forward to seeing our students once again as our schools are ready to reopen. Be safe and remain well!

2020-21 GAC Calendar: The first day of school is Tuesday, September 1. The school calendar will be posted early this week. Sorry for any inconvenience.

My mistake. Emails about scheduling were only sent to high school students. Middle school schedules are set.

To all High School and Middle School students: Please check your school email. Mrs. Finn sent out emails on Monday 7/20/20 looking for feedback on your schedules. She will be finishing up schedules for next year by tomorrow and hopes to email final schedules by Monday 7/27/20. Reply by tomorrow to make any changes now. You can also make changes as needed at the beginning of the school year if necessary.

July 20, 2020
Dear Goodman-Armstrong Creek Parents, Caregivers, Students and Community Members:
I would like to share with you tentative plans for the health, safety, and wellness for students and staff members as we look forward to a new school year in fall. At this time it is our hope to begin the school year with everyone physically present. Please be aware that these plans are constantly under review and may change between now and September 1st. We continue to monitor local health department COVID numbers and will also use recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and health care authorities in our decision making process for the foreseeable future.
The following safeguards and protocols will be implemented in an effort to provide safe and healthy learning environments for everyone. To that end, we will:
Monitor and restrict all non-essential visitors to the schools.
Maintain a log of shared staff between GAC schools and other local educational providers.
Daily track student and staff member attendance and maintenance of a symptoms log to assist in contact tracking if needed. Note that individuals with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19: Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting, and Diarrhea. This list does not include all possible symptoms.
Schedule frequent hand washing and sanitizing during the school day. Posted throughout the schools will be signage reminding everyone of proper hand washing guidelines and ways to help stop the spread of germs.
Create physical distancing of students and adults in shared areas such as classrooms, hallways, lunchroom and gymnasium. Utilization of face coverings, masks and/or face shields to assist in reducing the spread of viruses.
Designate locations in each building to separate students and staff who become ill while at school from others.
Clean and disinfect daily according to established CDC and health department guidelines.
The district will make every effort to remain open for teaching and learning to occur. You can help us to do so by taking proper care of yourself and others and by practicing safety measures that are likely to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
NOTE: In the event a person diagnosed with COVID-19 is determined to have been in the building and poses a risk to the community, it may be necessary for the school to close for a certain time period for cleaning and disinfection. The Goodman-Armstrong Creek School will discuss the appropriate management with our local health department for guidance.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions and concerns as they arise.
Respectfully,
Steven M. Bloom, District Administrator/Principal
Goodman-Armstrong Creek School District

Please take a few minutes and take our online survey about the experiences you and your family had during the school closure. You can fill this out online or fill out the paper survey for each of your children that will be coming home in the next few days. Thank you for your input.
