Letter to Parents/Guardians/Caregivers – COVID-19 Case(s) in the School May 19, 2021 This letter is to notify you that [a] student[s] and/or staff member[s] at Goodman-Armstrong Creek School District has tested positive for COVID-19. The confirmed case involves a teacher at GAC High/Middle School. We are actively working with the local County Health Department to quickly identify, notify, and quarantine any students or staff who may have come into close contact with them and who may be at risk of getting sick. We are also cleaning and disinfecting the school to control the spread of illness. For now, school will be scheduled to remain open until further notice. Please take the steps necessary to monitor and manage any COVID-related signs and symptoms displayed by your child(ren). Keep them home if symptoms as described below are present, and contact the local county health department and/or your medical provider for further guidance. About COVID-19: COVID-19 is an illness caused by a new coronavirus. It spreads from person to person through droplets created when we cough, sneeze, talk, sing or laugh. Most people, especially young people, who get COVID- 19, have mild illness, similar to having a cold or the flu. However, in others it can cause severe illness, such as pneumonia. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include the following: • Fever (temperature 100.4°F or higher) • Cough • Trouble breathing • Chills • Muscle/body aches • Loss of sense of taste or smell • Runny nose or nasal congestion • Fatigue • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea The CDC’s website has good information about COVID-19: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus. What to Expect: If your child had close contact with a person with COVID-19, you will receive a separate letter with special instructions about monitoring symptoms, testing, and how to keep others in your home from getting sick. If your child did not have close contact with a person with COVID-19 in our school, you will not receive another letter. However, everyone in your household should continue to stay home as much as possible, wash their hands frequently, keep 6 feet away from others, wear a mask or cloth face covering in public, watch for symptoms of COVID-19, and seek medical care when sick. If you know your child has an underlying health condition, you may wish to discuss the option of switching to online instruction with your healthcare provider. Someone from the local County Health Department may reach out to you with questions. Please assist with them as they work to investigate and control COVID-19 in our school. Should you wish to make contact with the local County Health Department please use the following numbers: Forest County: 715-478-3371; Marinette County: 715-251-4769. Prevent Further Spread: The following guidelines will help to prevent further spread of illness at our school: • Notify the school if your child is diagnosed with COVID-19. • Notify the school if your child had contact with someone who you know was diagnosed with COVID-19. • Keep students home from school if they are sick. • Encourage good habits: frequent handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, use of face coverings in public, and staying home as much as possible.

Making our doggies new tags in FAB LAB 1!

The final project build of Fab Lab 2 is create something using three fab processes. This is a oak fishing pole rack, the three processes are 3D printed door pulls, cnc plasma cut line spool holders and laser engraved logos on the gussets. Great design, great finishing!

In honor of teacher appreciation week, our Fab Lab students made plaques for teachers that they appreciate! Here are a few photos!

One of the Fab Lab students engraved a memorial plack for their grandfather who served during WW2. I told him that he had just made a great family heirloom. Great idea and finished project, and thank you George Wulf for your service.

The Fab Lab students were assigned a project of making a product that, if sold in a store would have to be worth at least $25.00. They were judged by the school staff and given feedback. They had to keep in mind their consumer and have a good enough finish quality. Great Job!

Congratulations to Tyler M and Gabe W for receiving a bronze medal at the state forensic's competition! They had an amazing season and worked hard to make it to state.

Fab 1 made Mothers Day spoons! They turned out so nice!!!

Reminder: Elementary Early Dismissal on Monday, May 3, 2021 This communication serves as a reminder that elementary students only will be dismissed at 12:15 PM on Monday, May 3rd. There will be no Day Camp offerings that afternoon due to the nature of that activity and current health and safety protocols. Elementary staff members will be involved in specialized training that afternoon. Please note that the school day for middle and high schools students remains as typically scheduled. Students riding the bus will be transported home as usual at the end of their regularly scheduled school day. It is hoped that this reminder will help in your planning for your child(ren) on the afternoon of Monday, May 3rd for elementary students.

School Resumes on Monday, April 5, 2021 We look forward to a return to learning activities following the scheduled spring break. Thank you for your continued and on-going support to assist in keeping our schools safe during these challenging times. Your understanding of our face covering requirement and social distancing practices are critical in our local efforts to fend off the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to implement safety and cleaning practices and protocols for our students to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. Please continue a daily school day student screening protocol checking for any signs or symptoms of illness. Call 715-336-2575 to report a student absence and indicate what symptoms your child has which prevents them from attending school. Please also indicate whether your child has tested positive for COVID-19, has been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or if your child has any of the following symptoms: Cough, Diarrhea, Difficulty breathing, Fever, Headache, Muscle pain, Nausea/vomiting, New loss of taste or smell, and/or Sore throat.
